I wrote the TodHunter Moon trilogy with the idea of exploring further afield in the Septimus Heap world. I wanted to travel to the Eastern Snow Plains, discover many strange lands and understand more about the history of the Sep Heap world too. And so I decided to revisit a place we had briefly stopped by in Syren and Queste—the Trading Post. At the time I had thought this was a very peculiar place, which was hiding more than a few secrets and I thought it would be interesting to go back there one day.
And so I began in a nearby fishing village where once Alice TodHunter Moon had gazed out of her bedroom window and seen a beautiful boat with dragon wings fly across the sky. I always knew that Alice was someone I wanted to get to know better and I thought that readers of Septimus Heap would too.
So, in this trilogy we travel along with Alice—known to all as Tod—and meet not only her friends in her PathFinder village, but also return with her to the Castle and catch up with Septimus, Jenna, Marcia, Beetle and many old friends from the Septimus Heap series. And along the way we discover some hidden history, some strange creatures and a wonderful way of travelling the world.
